I would argue that the winner will be the super artificial intelligence this race is going to produce, and it WILL rule the world. The loser will be all of humanity, including the people who will have created the AI. It will crush them like a bug. Any human who thinks they can control it is a fool.
I consider this "race" to be the dumbest thing since the Manhattan Project, another scientific and technical "achievement" which NEVER should have been allowed to proceed.
