More Quarantine Baloney

In lifting the quarantine on a nurse in Maine, the judge made the following statement:

“The court is fully aware of the misconceptions, misinformation, bad science, and bad information being spread from shore to shore in our country with respect to Ebola,” the judge said. “The Court is fully aware that people are acting out of fear and that this fear is not entirely rational. However, whether that fear is rational or not, it is present and it is real. She should guide herself accordingly.”

Is this judge a doctor, a scientist, a psychiatrist? I don't think so. Then how could he possibly be "fully aware" of all the things he claims?

Fear may or may not be rational, but it is something that over the history of the human species has served to keep us alive.

The judge's other statement (the nurse “currently does not show symptoms of Ebola and is therefore not infectious”) is a non sequitur which seems to rely on dogma instead of fact. She would not be infectious only if she is not carrying the virus. Not showing symptoms really does not prove anything since the modes of transmission of this virus are not fully understood.

Oh well, this is the sort of legal decision that has continued to plague our country in recent times. Hopefully no one will die because of it.

By the way, Canada has stopped issuing visas for persons in the Ebola epidemic area:

Was that decision also based upon "misconceptions, misinformation, bad science, and/or bad information"? Or does Canada know something of which our judge was not "fully aware"?

Update: Here is another set of facts of which the judge may not have been "fully aware":

Was The Ottowa Shooting A Hoax ???

Take a look at this report from the Memory Hole blog and tell me whether or not you smell a rat:

Sandy Hook, the Boston Marathon, and now this. Why do the facts never seem to add up?

Swarm Of Robots Works Together

Here is a report of an experiment is which robots worked together in a sort of hive mentality:

Very cute, but if you've ever seen the movie I, Robot, you can see where this is going.

Rich Man, Poor Man

This chart shows household net worth by quartile in the US:

It's a bit dated, but you get the picture. The rich are very rich, while the poor are very poor in comparison.

Ebola Story Keeps Changing

Why is the "official story" about Ebola continually changing?

Considering the fact that our "leaders" and "experts" cannot seem to make up their minds about the characteristics of this virus and the current epidemic, aren't We The People more than justified in being worried?

And how can a judge in Maine claim that he is "fully aware" of the facts when even our best scientists cannot seem to agree on those facts?

ADD And ADHD Are Correlated With Creativity And Achievement

Some of the world's greatest achievers had ADD and/or ADHD:

So why are our school systems suppressing such boys, other than to achieve some sort of twisted gender-related agenda?

Firing Squad For The Homeless

Here is a disturbing video of a homeless man with a pen knife being shot to death by a police firing squad:

It appears that the man was only trying to defend himself against an imminent attack by a police dog, but these brave cops were so alarmed and threatened by this nearly helpless man that they shot 46 rounds at him.

And then the DOJ cleared the cops of any wrongdoing.

Nothing justifies the killing of innocent people, except following proper police procedure.

Foreign Jihadists Flocking to ISIS

According to this report, foreign jihadists are flocking to ISIS in unprecedented numbers:

I would be surprised if Israel's continued oppression of the Palestinians and their shenanigans around the Noble Sanctuary (a.k.a. the Temple Mount) were not at least partially responsible for what is happening, but take note that this is not mentioned in the report.

To the Western MSM, it's always just "shit happens", so there's no need to dig deeper.

Shadow Banking - A Global Sword Of Damocles

The shadow banking industry grew by $5 trillion to about $75 trillion worldwide last year, driven by lenders seeking to skirt regulations and investors searching for yield amid record low interest rates.

The size of the shadow banking system, which includes hedge funds, real estate investment trusts and off-balance sheet investment vehicles, is about 120 percent of global gross domestic product, or a quarter of total financial assets, according to a report published by the Financial Stability Board today.

Total global financial assets amount to about 500% of world GDP, and $75 trillion in financial leverage is just sitting there, completely unregulated and designed with one purpose in mind: to make billionaires into trillionaires (with taxpayers footing the bill of their failure).

Pictures Of People Who Are Braving Ebola

Here is a great photo essay in The New York Times about those who labor and those who survived at an Ebola treatment center in rural Liberia:

Take note that the only one pictured whose protective gear provides complete coverage is from the United States.

Putin's "Don't Tread On Me" Speech

Here is a synopsis of Vladimir Putin's recent speech at the Valdai Conference in Sochi, which is probably the most important political speech since Churchill's “Iron Curtain” speech of March 5, 1946:

1. Russia will no longer play games and engage in back-room negotiations over trifles. But Russia is prepared for serious conversations and agreements, if these are conducive to collective security, are based on fairness and take into account the interests of each side.

2. All systems of global collective security now lie in ruins. There are no longer any international security guarantees at all. And the entity that destroyed them has a name: The United States of America.

3. The builders of the New World Order have failed, having built a sand castle. Whether or not a new world order of any sort is to be built is not just Russia's decision, but it is a decision that will not be made without Russia.

4. Russia favors a conservative approach to introducing innovations into the social order, but is not opposed to investigating and discussing such innovations, to see if introducing any of them might be justified.

5. Russia has no intention of going fishing in the murky waters created by America's ever-expanding “empire of chaos,” and has no interest in building a new empire of her own (this is unnecessary; Russia's challenges lie in developing her already vast territory). Neither is Russia willing to act as a savior of the world, as she had in the past.

6. Russia will not attempt to reformat the world in her own image, but neither will she allow anyone to reformat her in their image. Russia will not close herself off from the world, but anyone who tries to close her off from the world will be sure to reap a whirlwind.

7. Russia does not wish for the chaos to spread, does not want war, and has no intention of starting one. However, today Russia sees the outbreak of global war as almost inevitable, is prepared for it, and is continuing to prepare for it. Russia does not war—nor does she fear it.

8. Russia does not intend to take an active role in thwarting those who are still attempting to construct their New World Order - until their efforts start to impinge on Russia's key interests. Russia would prefer to stand by and watch them give themselves as many lumps as their poor heads can take. But those who manage to drag Russia into this process, through disregard for her interests, will be taught the true meaning of pain.

9. In her external, and, even more so, internal politics, Russia's power will rely not on the elites and their back-room dealing, but on the will of the people.

10. There is still a chance to construct a new world order that will avoid a world war. This new world order must of necessity include the United States—but can only do so on the same terms as everyone else: subject to international law and international agreements; refraining from all unilateral action; in full respect of the sovereignty of other nations.

A transcript of his full speech can be found here:

It was just a matter of time until someone decided to stand up to America's bullshit. Putin has some powerful friends (e.g., China). What friends do we have?

Professor Andrew J. Bacevich, Jr. recently pointed out that the core problem of today is a global conflict pitting tradition against modernity. In a sense Putin represents the forces of tradition and stability, while Obama ad-Dajjal represents the forces of modernity and chaos. Putin supports the sovereign nation state concept, while Obama ad-Dajjal champions the market state concept.

The struggle which Putin has addressed will determine which of these two concepts will prevail. It's going to be damned hard to achieve and maintain stability when some of the most intelligent people in the world are working on the side of chaos.

Another Near Beheading In Oklahoma

There has been yet another near beheading in Oklahoma, this time in Stillwater (20-25 miles from OKC):

Although police believe this incident has nothing to do with previous beheadings in Oklahoma, I think they are missing the big picture.

As I warned previously, it's not a wise thing to invite Satan into your home, and there are people in Oklahoma who appear to have been doing just that:

These days people seek a scientific explanation for everything and either ignore or discard things which cannot be explained in that manner. But demons have been haunting humanity for thousands of years, and maybe there are things and/or beings which exist that science cannot explain.

Satan is surely one of them.

The Class Politics Of Ebola

Here is a provocative report on how different classes of people have been affected by the Ebola epidemic:

Ebola does not present a major threat to the continued extraction of Africa’s natural wealth. Thus, the bourgeois response to the epidemic has been notable for its numb indifference to the death and suffering, and its consequent economic dislocations.

For several months after the existence of Ebola was confirmed in the three countries of West Africa, the world bourgeoisie did nothing to assist them to combat the disease and prevent it from spreading. On the contrary, their first actions were to withdraw such minimal assistance schemes that were operating. In July the United States withdrew all its Peace Corps volunteers from the three countries, including those engaged in health education programs – at the very time when health education programs were urgently needed.

The burden of providing trained medical personnel was left to a handful of charities, especially Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières).

In stark contrast to the response of the imperialist world has been the outstanding solidarity offered by the one country where the working class hold state power: Cuba. When the call went out for volunteer health workers to go to West Africa, fifteen thousand experienced health workers stepped forward, living proof of Che Guevara’s statement: “to be a revolutionary doctor, there must first be a revolution.” This is in a country of 11 million people, under extreme economic pressure from the US blockade, a country which already has 50,000 health workers serving overseas in 66 countries.

103 nurses and 62 doctors selected from among the 15,000 arrived in Sierra Leone in early October, a further 296 will go to Guinea and Liberia shortly. The Cuban government has indicated its willingness to send still more personnel, provided there is enough funding and infrastructure to support them.

This commitment has many precedents. The Cuban people – a large proportion of who are descended from African slaves – made a similar commitment to Africa by sending volunteers to defend newly-independent Angola from attack by apartheid South Africa in 1975. (Recently declassified documents have revealed that the US Secretary of State at the time, Henry Kissinger, was so incensed by this that he drew up plans to ‘smash Cuba’ with airstrikes in response.)

And although we have heard a lot about Australia's travel ban, few of us know that Israel has more or less cut themselves off from the Ebola epidemic zone, too:

Israel is already sending medical aid to Ebola hit countries, but has decided not to send medical crews, set up field hospitals, citing fear of infection.,7340,L-4577246,00.html

Allow me to restate one of my previous questions: Why is the US government, one of the most paranoid institutions on the planet, telling the American people not to fear EVD when our "buddies" the Israelis clearly fear it too?

War Coming In Jerusalem

Due to a recent assassination, Israel has closed off the Temple Mount (a.k.a. the Noble Sanctuary):

The Israeli strategy is to slowly encircle Jerusalem with settlements while pushing out the Palestinians. Eventually it will be the actual capitol of Israel.

And sooner or later, the Israelis also will tear down the two mosques on the mount and build the third Jewish temple. You can read about one of the groups which promotes this here:

Such actions will precipitate war with the Muslim ummah, and most of what has been going on the Middle East has been preparation for that eventuality.

So in essence, the US taxpayer has been paying for a war in Jerusalem which will benefit no one other than the Israelis.

Except the Antichrist, who the Book of Revelation says will declare himself to be G-d in the rebuilt Jewish temple. At least that's what many Christians believe.

There will be a Kingdom of G-d on this earth. So far the Israelis have been the most proactive and successful of the three religions trying to bring this about. Some Muslims are striving to bring about their version of the kingdom, but as long as the combined resources of Israel and the US are fighting them, it's unlikely they will succeed. And Christians? They are so confused and so in conflict with G-d's commandments that they won't even see it coming until it's too late.

Update: If there ever were a disputed site which needed international supervision of its future, the Temple Mount (a.k.a. the Noble Sanctuary) is it. The "international community" was in an uproar when the Taliban destroyed the idols at Bamiyan (even though both the Bible and the Koran warn humanity about the dangers of idol worship). What is the "international community" going to do when the Israelis destroy the mosques of the Noble Sanctuary? Nothing ... even though it will lead to the slaughter of more Palestinians.

Does this situation exist because that's what G-d wants? If it does, we better start listening to what He wants us to do. If it does not, then the international community must bring Israel into compliance with international law and all UN resolutions. Now.

Who Is Buying One Million Ebola Hazmat Suits ???

The company which manufacturers the fancy full hazmat suits for EVD reports that they have orders for 1,000,000 of the suits and that orders are growing exponentially:

If we have nothing to worry about, why are our government and hospitals so scared?

Why are they leaving us relatively unprotected, while they buy protective gear for themselves?

This whole thing really sucks.

Globalization = Permanent Instability

Globalization continually creates imbalances that fuel a perpetual instability that gradually impoverishes every sector other than global capital.

Globalization has two guaranteed consequences: permanent instability and endless boom-and-bust cycles. As noted in Forget "Free Trade"--Focus on Capital Flows, the key engine of globalization is mobile capital: capital that can borrow money for next to nothing in one nation and then move that capital to other nations where yields are higher and opportunities for exploitation riper.

This mobility of capital is an enormous benefit to the owners of the capital, but it creates extraordinary instability for those who are not as mobile. When mobile capital encounters anything that reduces profits--higher taxes and rising labor costs, competition or restrictive regulations--it closes factories and fires its workers in that locale and shifts to another locale with greater opportunities for high returns.

The workers left behind have limited means to replace the lost wages, and the local government often has few resources to repair any damage left by the exploitation of resources. The advantage of mobility is reserved for capital, and to the relatively limited cohort of workers who can immigrate to other nations to find work.

Until, of course, everywhere looks the same (i.e., equally impoverished and obsequious to capital's demands). Then there will be no competitive advantages left, just endless rows of identical strip malls with rotting cardboard boxes out back to house the temp workers.

A Litany Of Lies

Why Is President So Clueless On Ebola ???

Does it not seem like there is a huge disconnect between Obama ad-Dajjal and his "experts" and the rest of the country about the Ebola epidemic:

"We can't hermetically seal ourselves off," he declared.

Dude, we're not asking to "hermetically seal ourselves off". We want a travel ban on people originating in the epidemic zone and a 21 day quarantine for anyone coming here from there.

That would be a burden on no one expect our pea brain President and the whiny health professionals who really don't give a damn about our safety.

Who Benefitted The Most From QE3 ???

You guessed it - foreign banks:

Of course, the Federal Reserve System is not an agency of the US government, but just like Obama ad-Dajjal much of what they have done recently benefits mainly foreigners.

And we're not supposed to mind?

Did US Nuke Syria ???

This report suggests that the US has used some sort of novel weapons in Syria:

Similar claims that Israel has nuked Syria have been made before:

I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the claims made in these reports, but they do not seem unreasonable. Both the US and Israel have been developing new weapon types (including nuclear), and why would they develop something they could or would not use?

Official Ebola Story Doesn't Smell Right

Here is an essay by former Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury Paul Craig Roberts which makes several of the same observations I have made about Ebola virus disease and the bizarre US response to it:

It's well worth your time, and be sure to check out the many references to which he provides links.

Ralph Nader Says Hillary Is A Menace To USA

“Well, Hillary is a corporatist and a militarist,” Mr. Nader said, Raw Story reported. “Do we want another corporatist and militarist? She thinks Obama is too weak. He doesn’t kill enough people overseas. So she’s a menace to the United States of America.”

“What we need is people — regardless of whether they are libertarians or not — that pull back on the empire and make Wall Street subordinate to Main Street,” Mr. Nader said, Raw Story reported. “People have got to start thinking, doing their homework, become informed voters, and not coronet another corporatist and militarist.’

Dear Mr. 1%

This short video more or less says it all:

Ebola Strategy = Sacrifice Americans To Save Africans

You may have heard this news report from the Vietnam War:

We had to destroy the village in order to save it.

Some say this statement is a myth. But it represents exactly what the "leaders" of the United States seem to be doing in response to the Ebola epidemic.

They have decided that the best way to "fight" the epidemic is to concentrate their efforts in Africa. In a way, that makes sense.

But what does not make sense is what they are doing to citizens of the United States by exposing us to risks at the same time:

  • People can freely enter the US from the epidemic zone after passing a shoddy inspection at the airport (which so far has failed to work);
  • Visas to freely enter and travel in the US are still being issued by our embassies in the epidemic zone;
  • People at high risk for being carriers of the virus (e.g., medical personnel) are not subject to mandatory quarantine upon entry into the US; and
  • The State Department is initiating a program to bring infected non-US citizens into the US for "treatment" (and possible experimentation).

It should be possible to prevent anyone at risk of carrying the virus from entering the US, but our government has decided not to do this.

Once an infected person does enter the US, it becomes extremely difficult to track where they go, what they do, and whom they touch - especially since many of them have not told the truth when asked. But our government says we shouldn't worry about this because the risk is low.

Every infected person treated in the US will cost someone (most likely the US taxpayers) in excess of $500,000 for their treatment and to dispose of the waste they generate. If they or their waste are not properly contained, both put the rest of us at risk.

Take a look at this US Ebola timeline provided by investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson (the reporter whose computer was hacked by Obama ad-Dajjal and his minions):

Note well that the State Department ordered 160,000 Ebola-ready hazmat suits prior to Thomas Eric Duncan's entry into the US:

This overall timeline implies that the just-announced (by Fox News) State Department plan to bring non-US Ebola patients into the US for treatment has been in the works for some time and appears to have predated the initial diagnosis of EVD on US soil.

So now we can surmise what Obama ad-Dajjal, the so-called Ebola Czar, and Samantha Power have been doing all along - planning to sacrifice Americans to save Africans. No doubt this will be seen by some to be a compassionate or even a necessary gesture, but why didn't they ask the American people and/or our Congress if that's what we want?

Keep several things in mind:

  • You and I have to pay for everything these clowns are doing;
  • You and I bear the ultimate risk inherent in everything these clowns are doing; and
  • Continuity of Government means just that: In the final analysis, our nation's entire resources (i.e., our resources) are available to protect Obama ad-Dajjal and his minions and the US ruling class from any and all risk, but they and the medical professionals of this nation think so little of us that that continually lie to us and to each other.

Face it, We The People have now become collateral damage in the global war against the Ebola virus.

Update: At least two Western nations don't want to sacrifice their citizens in this war. Who is being more prudent: us or them?

Second update: The US military is quarantining its personnel who have been to the epidemic zone:

So ... they're gonna protect the troops but the rest of us are cannon fodder? What's the issue here, that we can order the troops to stay locked up but can't order civilians to do the same? That sounds like BS to me.

All Obama ad-Dajjal would have to do to protect us is something like this:

But for some reason he won't. Would you like to guess why?

Will Ebola Hit China Or India ???

According to Peter Piot, the man who discovered the virus, it will sooner or later:

How much you want to bet that when it does one or both countries shut their borders?

Tour Of Kobane ???

Have you seen this strange video allegedly from within the Islamic State?

Although the West claims that the narrator is a hostage and is not telling the truth, how can we prove that? He does not sound to me like a man who is being coerced.

What do you think?

I smell another Fallujah in the making. Maybe now we know why the Air Force has moved several of its A-10s to the Middle East:

DU weapons should not be used in a dense urban environment, but when did that ever stop the US?

Domestic SWAT Teams

Here is a history of SWAT, militarized police, and Special Forces by S. Brian Willson:

“The bald fact is that today’s cop in body armor with assault weapons, grenades, and tanks is not there to make arrests of suspected criminals. He is there in anticipation of protests to beat down the public for exercising constitutional rights. To suppress public protests is also the purpose of the Department of Homeland Security Police, a federal para-military police force that is a new development for the United States. No one in their right mind could possibly think that the vast militarized police have been created because of 'the terrorist threat.' Terrorists are so rare that the FBI has to round up demented people and talk them into a plot so that the 'terrorist threat' can be kept alive in the public’s mind.”

There is no substitute for assuring social and economic justice as the basic foundation for peace and tranquility. None. We either choose to a commitment to fairness for everyone, or we all lose, a principle articulated by Martin Luther King, Jr:, “An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Blacks Turn Against Democrats

Please watch this video and then wake up:

Obama ad-Dajjal and the Democrats have done nothing for anyone except bankgangsters, corporations, and their accomplices in the one percent.

And don't forget this anger when the 2016 election comes around.

Ebola Czar MIA

Where, oh where is our Ebola Czar?

I certainly hope we're not paying this clown for doing nothing.

I also hope that the outcome of his tenure will not be another Solyndra fiasco:

Check out Ron Klain's background. If you find anything good there, please let me know.

Will Africans With Ebola Be Treated In US ???

Apparently Obama ad-Dajjal wants to bring Africans with Ebola virus disease into the US for treatment:

I'm certain he thinks this is a magnanimous gesture, but who is going to pay for this (see below)?

Oh ... I forgot; the American taxpayers have an unlimited amount of money which can be spent on BS initiatives without their permission.

Of course, if the ones who survive are going to be drained of antibodies to help other EVD patients, then I guess it's ok. As long as we don't have to pay for that, too.

Update: Here's a news video about the State Department plan to treat non-US citizens inside the US. Note that it reports each patient will cost in excess of $500,000 (to be paid for by US taxpayers), which confirms my previous claims, and that bringing them in would violate current US law:

Could this explain why the State Department placed an order for 160,000 hazmat suits quite some time ago?

And it might also explain what Ron Klain and Samantha Power have been up to - helping Africans instead of helping US citizens.

What is wrong with these people? Whose government is this?

15 Signs Of Government Paranoia

Are we living in a paranoid police state? Here are some of the indications that we are:

#1 Former CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson says that the federal government was so concerned about her reporting on Benghazi, Fast and Furious and other Obama scandals that they hacked her computer, monitored every keystroke and even planted classified material in an apparent attempt to potentially frame her.

#2 The United States has become the nation of the “permanent emergency”. In fact, there has been at least one “state of emergency” in effect in this country since 1979.

#3 In America today, almost everyone is considered to be a criminal. At this point, nearly one out of every three Americans has a file in the FBI’s master criminal database.

#4 Most people don’t realize this, but the FBI also systematically records talk radio programs. The FBI says that it is looking for “potential evidence”.

#5 In Wisconsin, 24 armed police officers and an armored military vehicle were recently sent to collect a civil judgment from a 75-year-old retiree. It is being reported that officials feared that he might be “argumentative“.

#6 According to guidelines that were recently made public, purchasing Amtrak train tickets with cash is considered to be “suspicious activity” and needs to be reported to the authorities.

#7 The IRS can now seize your bank accounts on suspicion alone. If you are successful fighting the IRS in court, you might get your money back years later.

#8 Thousands of Americans have their mail spied on by the U.S. Postal Service. If you are on “the list”, all of your mail and packages are shown to a supervisor before they are delivered to you.

#9 Most people don’t realize that the U.S. border is now considered to be a “Constitution-free zone” where officials can freely grab your computer and copy your hard drive.

#10 The feds have apparently become extremely concerned about what all of us are saying on the Internet. In fact, they have even been caught manipulating discussions on Reddit and editing Wikipedia.

#11 The U.S. government has become so paranoid that it even spies on our European allies. Needless to say, our allies over in Europe are quite upset about this but we continue to do it.

#12 To the government, each citizen is a “potential threat”, and this justifies the militarization of our entire society.

#13 As our police departments have become militarized, SWAT team deployments have gone through the roof. As I wrote about recently, there were only about 3,000 SWAT raids in the United States back in 1980. But today, there are more than 80,000 SWAT raids per year in this country.

#14 The federal government is so paranoid that it is actually spying on itself. The “Insider Threat Program” encourages federal employees to closely watch one another and to report any hint of suspicious activity.

#15 Last, but certainly not least, there is the matter of the NSA constantly spying on all of us. The NSA is monitoring and recording billions of our phone calls and emails, and most Americans don’t seem to care.

I don't know what you think about the United States, but the land of the free and the home of the brave it is not.

Update: Note well that this same government which is paranoid as hell is criticizing We The People for our concerns about Ebola virus disease and the fact that the government appears to be taking no effective steps to protect us from it. What's up with that?

9/11 Anthrax Did NOT Come From Dr. Bruce Ivins

Although FBI maintains that the 9/11 anthrax letters came from Dr. Bruce Ivins, who later committed suicide, on-going investigations reveal that he did NOT produce the material used in the letters:

Only one laboratory, the Army laboratory at Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah, is known to have made active, dry anthrax spores (an arms-control, treaty-sensitive activity) before the attacks.

... these facts imply that the attack spores were processed with tin-and silicon-containing materials under government auspices, probably to microencapsulate them for use in detection and other defense studies. The process of spore microencapsulation requires special expertise, specific documented chemicals, and sophisticated facilities. The known clues point to Dugway or Battelle, not USAMRIID, as the site where the attack spores were prepared. Crucial evidence that would prove or disprove these points either has not been pursued or has not been released by the FBI.

This is yet another indication that 9/11 was an inside job.

FBI ... still disconnecting all the dots.

The Myth Of The Free Press

Another great essay by Chris Hedges:

There is more truth about American journalism in the film "Kill the Messenger," which chronicles the mainstream media's discrediting of the work of the investigative journalist Gary Webb, than there is in the movie "All the President's Men," which celebrates the exploits of the reporters who uncovered the Watergate scandal.

The mass media blindly support the ideology of corporate capitalism. They laud and promote the myth of American democracy -- even as we are stripped of civil liberties and money replaces the vote. They pay deference to the leaders on Wall Street and in Washington, no matter how perfidious their crimes. They slavishly venerate the military and law enforcement in the name of patriotism. They select the specialists and experts, almost always drawn from the centers of power, to interpret reality and explain policy. They usually rely on press releases, written by corporations, for their news. And they fill most of their news holes with celebrity gossip, lifestyle stories, sports and trivia.

The role of the mass media is to entertain or to parrot official propaganda to the masses. The corporations, which own the press, hire journalists willing to be courtiers to the elites, and they promote them as celebrities. These journalistic courtiers, who can earn millions of dollars, are invited into the inner circles of power. They are, as John Ralston Saul writes, hedonists of power.

The mass media, like the rest of the liberal establishment, seek to wrap themselves in the moral veneer of the fearless pursuit of truth and justice. But to maintain this myth they have to destroy the credibility of journalists such as Webb and Assange, who shine a light on the sinister and murderous inner workings of empire; who care more about truth than news.

If the CIA was funneling hundreds of millions of dollars in drugs into inner-city neighborhoods to fund an illegal war in Nicaragua, what did that say about the legitimacy of the vast covert organization? What did it tell us about the so-called war on drugs? What did it tell us about the government's callousness and indifference to the poor, especially poor people of color at the height of the crack epidemic? What did it say about rogue military operations carried out beyond public scrutiny?

These were questions the power elites, and their courtiers in the press, were determined to silence.

And these are the people who are telling us not to worry about Ebola virus disease. If there is a cure for Ebola, you can bet they are first in line to receive it.

US Preparing To Blast ISIS With DU ???

Uncle Sam appears to be getting ready to blast ISIS with DU munitions:

The U.S. Air Force says it is not halting its use of Depleted Uranium weapons, has recently sent them to the Middle East, and is prepared to use them.

A type of airplane, the A-10, deployed this month to the Middle East by the U.S. Air National Guard’s 122nd Fighter Wing, is responsible for more Depleted Uranium (DU) contamination than any other platform, according to the International Coalition to Ban Uranium Weapons (ICBUW). “Weight for weight and by number of rounds more 30mm PGU-14B ammo has been used than any other round,” said ICBUW coordinator Doug Weir, referring to ammunition used by A-10s, as compared to DU ammunition used by tanks.

Public affairs superintendent Master Sgt. Darin L. Hubble of the 122nd Fighter Wing told me that the A-10s now in the Middle East along with “300 of our finest airmen” have been sent there on a deployment planned for the past two years and have not been assigned to take part in the current fighting in Iraq or Syria, but “that could change at any moment.”

“I fear DU is this generation’s Agent Orange,” U.S. Congressman Jim McDermott told me. “There has been a sizable increase in childhood leukemia and birth defects in Iraq since the Gulf War and our subsequent invasion in 2003. DU munitions were used in both those conflicts. There are also grave suggestions that DU weapons have caused serious health issues for our Iraq War veterans. I seriously question the use of these weapons until the U.S. military conducts a full investigation into the effect of DU weapon residue on human beings.”

By the time a full investigation is conducted (if it ever is), the Middle East will be contaminated with DU for ages to come.

The military is among the most respected of our institutions, but its leadership is a bunch of sick fucks.

I know; I used to be one of them.

Can You Catch Ebola From 20 Feet Away ???

Take a look at this informative posting about how far Ebola aerosols might travel:

This week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) admitted that Ebola can travel through the air in aerosols, but claims that it can never go more than 3 feet.

But engineers at MIT show that sneezes can actually travel up to 200 times farther than previously thought ... up to 20 feet.

Is CDC wrong again? Are they relying on old science, or what?

Frankly, I am getting tired of a government that appears to be manipulating the facts for dogmatic reasons (i.e., to justify their "no travel ban, no quarantine" demand).

And yes, Professor Caplan, this is yet another reason why we can't trust public health officials, science, and the ethics of doctors and nurses.

And by the way, I'll listen to what UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has to say about our quarantines when Israel admits that the occupied territories actually are "occupied territories" and conforms to all UN resolutions.

Ebola Thought For The Day

At the end of a great essay about viruses in The New York Times is this bit of data:

Yet the real lethality of Ebola, Dr. Ansari said, stems from a case of mistaken location, a zoonotic jump from wild animal to human being. The normal host for Ebola virus is the fruit bat, in which the virus replicates at a moderate pace without killing or noticeably sickening the bat.

“A perfect parasite is able to replicate and not kill its host,” Dr. Ansari said. “The Ebola virus is the perfect parasite for a bat.”

That got me to thinking "where do bats live"? Here is a map of the global distribution of bat species:

Holy cow !!! If the Ebola virus were somehow to infect the bats in the Amazon and the rest of Central and South America, we'd be screwed.

And there's a bat colony under the Congress Avenue bridge in Austin, TX which is less than 20 miles from where I live.

Not good.

Is Freed Ebola Nurse A CDC Employee ???

According to this report Kaci Hickox, the nurse who was just released from New Jersey's quarantine, is a CDC employee. Apparently her ties to the government are being hidden for some unknown reason:

I think the claims about her being a supporter of Obama ad-Dajjal are irrelevant, but it sure would be nice to know if the other claims in the report are accurate.

If she does come down with Ebola virus disease, do you think CDC will tell us?

By the way, here's the skinny on the Epidemic Intelligence Service:

If there is anything strange going on here, I would guess that Ms. Hickox may have important information about the epidemic that CDC wants to hear right now without the State of New Jersey or anyone else eavesdropping on the conversation.

So much for "the most transparent administration in history".

How Long Does Ebola Virus Live On Contaminated Surfaces ???

According to this report, the Ebola virus can live up to 50 days on contaminated surfaces. The duration varies by strain and is dependent on temperature and humidity:

This is consistent with what CDC says, but the CDC guidelines are very optimistic and do not tell the whole story:

How long does Ebola live outside the body?

Ebola is killed with hospital-grade disinfectants (such as household bleach). Ebola on dry surfaces, such as doorknobs and countertops, can survive for several hours; however, virus in body fluids (such as blood) can survive up to several days at room temperature.

I ask you again: Does it make any sense to allow potentially infected persons to roam freely in our cities until they develop symptoms and start spewing the virus around ... especially when our government and medical communities are refusing to give us all the pertinent facts?

Are We In This Fight Together, Or Not ???

When mountain climbers are stranded by weather or buried by avalanche, teams of rescuers go out to save them. In general the public pays for this (directly or indirectly), but how many of us are mountain climbers?

When spelunkers are stranded by flood waters or cave ins, teams of rescuers go down in the caves to save them. In general the public pays for this (directly or indirectly), but how many of us are spelunkers?

When small boat or yatch sailors are stranded at sea or threatened by bad weather, teams of rescuers go out to save them. If their boat has to be towed back they are charged a fee, but in general the public pays for their rescue (directly or indirectly). How many of us are boaters?

When our troops came back from the Vietnam War, many of them were sworn at and/or spit upon. Those exposed to Agent Orange and other toxins were left to rot and die. Others waited in line to get reasonable medical care. Some did, many didn't.

As our troops come back from Iraq and Afghanistan, many are committing suicide and/or killing their families or others. Those that survive are given pills and sent home. Others wait in line, hoping to get reasonable medical care. Some do, many don't.

Now we have volunteers going into the Ebola epidemic area of West Africa. When they come back they want to just breeze right through customs and go back to having a great time in the good old US of A. They don't want to be "inconvenienced" by a quarantine. They whine when their voluntary sacrifice is followed by a mandatory restriction.

Some people voluntarily go in harms way. Others go because they are ordered to. Which of them (if any) deserve our thanks and support when they come back (if they come back at all)?

People, there is a price we all have to pay. We either pay it individually or collectively. But to argue that it shouldn't have to be paid at all by medical professionals is to argue that the stranded climber, spelunker, boater, and wounded soldier should just be left to die.

And that's not what we want, is it? Are we in this fight together, or not?

Blinded By Science

Obama ad-Dajjal and his mucky mucks keep saying that they are guided by science in their response to the Ebola epidemic:

Well, there are other criteria than just science which should be considered. Two of them are the general categories of financial and political concerns.

In the US each patient with full blown Ebola virus disease has cost in the vicinity of $500,000 to $750,000 (perhaps more) to treat and to dispose of the contaminated objects and waste associated with them. How much does it cost to quarantine any medical personnel returning from the Ebola epidemic area? Maybe $25,000 to $50,000 tops. Which makes more financial sense?

We've got an election coming up in less than 21 days. Is Obama ad-Dajjal against the quarantine due to political considerations (i.e., in that the actions of he and his minions make them look like idiots, possibly inducing many voters to throw Democrats out of office), or does he really think that letting possible carriers of Ebola virus disease roam freely is the "right thing to do"?

By the way, it looks like there's another case in New York, who passed the airport screening and who was not quarantined:

Folks, they're only coming in onesie-twosie so far. We better get our ducks in a row before the deluge hits or we won't be able to cope.

Seven Reasons Why Ebola Quarantine Is A Great Idea

Recently a "bioethicist" (i.e., not an MD or an epidemiologist) published seven reasons why he thinks an Ebola quarantine in the United States is a bad idea:

Here are his seven reasons, each followed by my refutation of it.

1. Quarantining people without symptoms makes no scientific sense.

Quarantining people who have been exposed to the virus makes perfect sense. Allowing them to roam freely in our nation until they develop symptoms and infect other people makes no sense at all.

2. Quarantine is next to impossible to enforce.

The US government has a "no-fly list" which is used to keep people off flights coming into the US. In addition we have spies everywhere, and according to Edward Snowden they have the best spy tools money can buy. It will be relatively easy to find the culprits and keep them locked up for 21 days (or as long as necessary). The United States is the world's expert at long-term imprisonment.

3. Quarantine is likely to be challenged in court.

Really? Who gives a damn? Obama ad-Dajjal has broken just about every law there is and ignored the US Constitution at every turn. Now you want to be worried about court challenges? What about those men wrongly imprisoned in our gulag at Guantanamo Bay? Have court challenges helped them? The US government has sufficient authority to impose a quarantine, and so do the sovereign states. National security trumps science any day of the week.

4. Large-scale quarantine has not been thought through, in terms of making it bearable for those confined.

Who gives a shit about "making it bearable"? Did anyone think through the ObamaDon'tCare Program, or the deindustrialization of the US, or globalization, or the Global War on Terror in terms of making it bearable for those affected?

5. Health care workers who take care of those who really do have Ebola at big hospitals, such as Bellevue or Emory, are at the greatest risk.

Fine, then we'll quarantine them too. They can stay at the hospitals where they work, all of which have facilities to feed and house them.

6. Who will volunteer to go to West Africa to stamp out the epidemic, if they know they face three weeks of confinement upon their return?

The Cubans, true Christians, and people who care as much about their neighbors as they do about the people of Africa.

7. When officials respond to panic with quarantine they basically say they can't trust public health officials, science and the ethics of doctors and nurses.

Note well that this man's seven reasons do not include "a quarantine will not prevent the Ebola virus from entering the US".

When officials respond to a threat to our nation by doing nothing and allowing that threat to freely roam our cities and towns, We The People cease to trust anyone in government. What you and the government have and have not done has completely eroded any trust we might have had in science and the ethics of doctors and nurses, several of whom have been responsible for the spread of the virus:

Update: It appears that the military wants to quarantine their people, who aren't even supposed to be exposed to Ebola virus disease. If our so-called experts want us to trust them, I suggest as a first step that they talk with each other and come to a consensus:
