Settlers in Israel are seizing what they call "empty" land from its previous Palestinian occupants:

And like the Israelis, who maintain G-d gave the land to them through Abraham (Genesis 15:18, 17:8), US westward expansion was cloaked in the Doctrine of Manifest Destiny (although there is no such promise anywhere in the Bible).
