While we deplorables are focused on the Trump inauguration, the elites once again are partying at Davos. And they're proposing some intriguing things for the rest of us.
Matt Damon has shifted his focus from toilets to water resources:
Damon and White, who ended up merging their organizations, H2O Africa and WaterPartners International, respectively, to found Water.org in 2009, have been working to provide developing countries with safe water and sanitation through long-term economic solutions.

And Bill Gates is back with another bizarre vaccine proposal:
Bill Gates, the world’s richest man, is preparing to “outsmart epidemics” by launching an effort that develops adaptable vaccines before another global health crisis like Zika or Ebola, which killed more than 11,000 people in West Africa, threatens the world again.
The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) – founded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the governments of India and Norway, the medical research charity Wellcome and the World Economic Forum – addresses how “the world is tragically unprepared” to quickly detect and respond to outbreaks, Gates said.
“The idea is to take a new way of building vaccines that could let us develop in less than a year a novel vaccine, called DNA/RNA vaccines,” Gates told CBS News senior producer Lulu Chiang at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Part of CEPI’s research would explore ways to create “plug-and-play” vaccines using genetic sequences of pathogens to identify effective antibodies against infections.

While I somewhat admire their pluck, I am highly skeptical of what may result, especially because it's likely the Davos crowd will get their hooks into both initiatives. And face it - these are not charitable people. Oligarchs never are.
Here are my chief concerns:
(1) Privatization of water resources is a threat to all humanity. What safeguards are in place to ensure initiatives like water.org are not co-opted by the rich for their own ultimate benefit?
(2) Any time you hear Gates mention vaccines you ought to shudder. The genetic information which will be gathered for his project (both human and pathogen genomes) can be twisted into horrible weapons and/or a planned alteration of the entire human population. Can ANYONE be trusted with such power? I think not.
Don't trust anything which comes out of Davos. The people who meet there are a de facto unelected global government whose members (unless proven otherwise) are acting in their own best interests and not in the interests of We The People. And "our" governments do not have the means to prevent the Davos mafia from enacting measures we do not want.
