According to writer Evan Osnos, preppers from Silicon Valley and New York are getting ready for the “crackup of civilization.”
One American hedge-fund manager who owns two New Zealand homes told Osnos he expected at least a decade of political turmoil in the United States. PayPal co-founder and Facebook investor Peter Thiel also owns property there, and has described New Zealand as “utopia.”

Back in the day, the US was called "utopia". The streets were paved with gold. What happened?
The "crackup of civilization" they allegedly fear was caused by the elites themselves:
- They took our jobs away.
- They sucked the lifeblood out of our economy.
- They allowed cheap labor (a.k.a. undocumented immigrants) to flood our nation.
- They promoted the identity politics which is tearing us apart.
Trump's wall, if built, should have a secondary purpose - to keep the elites from running away. They should share in the misery they have created for the rest of us.
Or let them go, but make them leave "their" money here. Considering what they have done to the US, they really did not earn it.
