Apparently the UK is spending $16,000 per day (total $8 million so far) watching Julian Assange in the Embassy of Ecuador in London:

In the bigger scheme of things, they probably consider this a small price to pay. And I would not be surprised to learn that US is reimbursing them for the cost.
The US, the UK, and Israel (among others) know that the truth will set us free, so they are willing to spend any amount (or make any threat) to keep us from learning the truth.
