It takes a while to read, but it should help you understand how both the government and the MSM distorted our perceptions before, during, and after the crisis ... if we can even say there was an "after" (and not just a calm before the next storm).
When a "regulated" industry captures its regulators and controls most of the aspects of public discussion of its affairs, it can get away with anything. Our protection against this is supposed to be a vigilant executive branch and investigative journalists, but apparently neither of these exists any more.
