Confused Generals

Just saw this nonsensical claim about General Milley, the new Chairman of the JCS:

"At worst, Milley appears confused about the oath he took to support and defend the Constitution - not a president. I suggest the general get quickly unconfused or resign."

Here are the words of the oath General Milley took (for the benefit of MG Eaton, who may have forgotten what it says):

I ___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Allow me to point out two parts of the oath:

(1) "I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office"

(2) "against all enemies, foreign and domestic"

One of General Milley's duties is to follow the orders of his Commander-in-Chief.

And if you don't think the rioters are domestic enemies of the US Constitution, then you are even more confused than MG Eaton.

If MG Eaton is trying to say that the military and religion don't mix, then he needs to come out and forcefully condemn the evangelizing at the US Air Force Academy, the bizarre pronouncements of LTG Jerry Boykin, and the fact that God is even mentioned in the oath.

And what, you don't think George Washington and his generals didn't carry Bibles and pray openly ... or that Abraham Lincoln didn't do the same?

What we have here is an insurrection against a sitting President, one which is being aided by active duty and retired general officers and most of his so-called advisors. Trump hasn't done anything illegal or unconstitutional with respect to the insurrectionists. Either support him or resign and keep your mouth shut.

Update 6/7/2020

These military morons never cease to amaze me. Here is one of them questioning the "character and ethics" of his former C-in-C:

http://www.yourdestinationnow.com/2020/06/donald-trumps-former-chief-of-staff.html

How many of them questioned the character and ethics of the C-in-Cs who authorized the following?
  • the Vietnam War
  • Operation Phoenix
  • the bombing of Cambodia
  • the murder of Salvador Allende
  • the invasion of Panama
  • the starvation of Iraq's children
  • Operation Desert Storm
  • the coverup of 9/11
  • the invasion of Iraq
  • the destruction of Libya
  • the destruction of Syria

All these mutinous generals and admirals are cowards and have ZERO credibility. If you're going to be "honorable", you've got to do the right thing ALL THE TIME, not just when you feel like it.
