I strongly disagree with one of the claims he made:
O’Grady argued against the suspension, noting that he had just returned from a three-week safari in Zimbabwe and could attest that "their elephant population is not only robust, but is exceeding the land’s carrying capacity."
Africa belongs to its animal population as much as it does to its human population. Elephants are NOT exceeding the land's carrying capacity - humans are, and in so doing are destroying the elephants' habitat.
If we don't start to understand that and DO something about it, we'll eventually be just as extinct as the species we're now hunting for sport.
