Someone Is Confused About Space Travel

Here is the latest anti-Trump statement (which probably had nothing to do with Trump when it was first uttered):

 It's hard to see any particular reason or purpose in going back to the moon or indeed sending people into space at all.

 If that is true, then why do all the zillionaires have their own private space programs (e.g., Bezos, Musk, Branson, etc.)? Hopefully, it's not just for something as banal as "space tourism".

 Aren't we all supposed to escape this planet we wrecked and fly off to some heavenly paradise?
