The pathology of the rich

Here's an interview with Chris Hedges discussing the US ruling class:

I disagree with Paul Jay; the children of the rich will never repent. Money is way too seductive for that to ever happen.

And the CEO of United Healthcare did not make $1 billion last year. He "only" made $101 million.

But if, as both Hedges and Jay suggest, the people ever DO revolt, the police and military servants of the ruling class will just mow them down like the strikers of Lattimer Mines:

It was not a battle because they were not aggressive, nor were they on the defensive because they had no weapons of any kind and were simply shot down like so many worthless objects; each of the licensed life takers trying to outdo the others in the butchery.

What a fine kettle of fish.

By the way, the Lattimer Mines area of Hazle Township, PA is the birthplace of actor Jack Palance. I lived for several months in Harwood, the neighborhood from which the strikers started their fatal march. I also visited the site of this memorial plaque, which is now a somewhat ritzy residential neighborhood. Sadly, no one seems to care much about coal miners any more (if they ever did).
