The Changing Contours of US Imperial Intervention in World Conflicts

Cool (but lengthy) essay by Professor James Petras:

In other words, Israel dictates terms to the US negotiators that will effectively sabotage any possible agreement and put the US on a course toward another war for Israel.

Sound familiar? Who is running our foreign policy, the US State Department or Israel?

Something that occurred to me recently is worth mentioning here: the push for so-called US "energy independence". The US dollar is propped up by the petrodollar and OPEC's agreement to invest their petrodollars in US treasuries. Should Israel take over from the US as protector of the Saudi kingdom and should OPEC decide to jump ship from the dollar to the coming Chinese-inspired, gold-backed international trade platform, US imperial aspirations will be OVER. "Energy independence" makes it that much more likely that the Saudis and the Israelis soon will no longer need us or want us.

By the way, are all those weapons we sell to the Saudis staying in the kingdom, or are they being transferred to the Israelis? Is anyone keeping track?
