Here is a sad piece in the LA Times concerning all the lies being told about Social Security and one of its few champions:

Are we going to let the thugs of Wall Street totally wreck this country, or are we going to drive the money changers from the temple? Clearly, "our" government has been captured by bankgangsters, corporations, and their accomplices in the one percent, and it will be up to us the people to seize the initiative if this vital social safety net program is to be saved from these economic vultures.
It ain't gonna be easy, especially because the military (at the leadership level at least) is on their side and not on ours.
What was it that Douglas MacArthur said in his Thayer Award acceptance address?
Let civilian voices argue the merits or demerits of our processes of government; whether our strength is being sapped by deficit financing, indulged in too long, by federal paternalism grown too mighty, by power groups grown too arrogant, by politics grown too corrupt, by crime grown too rampant, by morals grown too low, by taxes grown too high, by extremists grown too violent; whether our personal liberties are as thorough and complete as they should be. These great national problems are not for your professional participation or military solution.
I have to agree with him. The military should stay out of the political process, and that includes standing down should there be a revolution in this country.
On the other hand, recall what Abraham Lincoln said in his Lyceum Address:
At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.
At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.
Clearly, we the people are the ultimate backstop to freedom and liberty in this land. If our national institutions cannot or will not act in the best interests of the people, then it is up to us to act on our own behalf.
Unfortunately, today we are committing national suicide, with Obama ad-Dajjal, Congress, and the Supreme Count playing the role of Jim Jones and his henchmen, doling out the Kool-Aid to the rest of us. We either thwart them, or (literally) we die.
What was it that Thomas Jefferson said in our Declaration of Independence?
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
The US government has in fact endowed its new creations (the banks and the corporations) with the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness ... their happiness, not ours. This same government has completely abandoned us the people and the states who created it. Isn't it about time we institute "new Government"? And when we finally work up the courage to do so, let's make sure we exclude from power all of the thieves and thugs who got us into this mess in the first place.
People keep talking about "the Founders". We are the Founders. This is our country. We can do anything we want.
