Punishing a Christian for his beliefs?

It appears that a student is being punished for events related to his refusal to stomp on the name of Jesus:

This reminds me of the following Biblical passage:

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
-Matthew 10:22 KJV
-Mark 13:13 KJV
-Luke 21:17 KJV
What does it remind you of?

By the way, this happened at the same university (FAU) that refused to support the free speech rights of a professor who questioned the official story of the Newtown, CT school shootings:

It is instructive to note that in both instances the professors were using hypothetical circumstances to make a point and that both aroused public outrage. However, the university appears to be supporting one professor and his idea of free speech while disavowing another (the "shooting denier"). Isn't that a strange contrast, or is this just another of the contradictions inherent in how we "teach" our children these days: that it's okay to question or disrespect religion but not okay to question official pronouncements of the government and the MSM?

I believe this strengthens my arguments in two previous blog posts:

"Our" system of interlocking government, corporations, and MSM acts in concert to promote its agenda and to discredit its opposition, even to the extent of wrecking careers, wrongfully imprisoning people, and killing those it deems too great a threat. One part of that agenda is to reinforce that "truth" is what earthly authority deems it to be and that there is no "truth" in your religious beliefs.

The next logical step in the promotion of that agenda could very well be to proclaim that religion is a mental illness.

UPDATE 3/31/2013
The professor in the "Jesus stomping" incident has been place on admin leave. Can anyone tell me why this event should not be considered a hate crime?
