Ruthless butchers

And then think about the Indian Wars, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the Pacific War in WWII, the Vietnam War, both Iraq Wars, and the Afghanistan War. A common thread is that our military forces always have been ruthless butchers. Not valiant heros - butchers.

Certainly there have been acts of heroism throughout, but they were vastly overwhelmed by the fact that we butchered people whose only crime was getting in our selfish way.
