Last General in Afghanistan?

It looks like an armchair general will be our final proconsul in Afghanistan. Considering their reputation as fierce warriors, I would not have thought that the Marines had any "armchair generals":

In modern usage, the title (proconsul) has been used (sometimes disparagingly) for a person from one country ruling another country or bluntly interfering in another country's internal affairs. "Bluntly interfering in another country's internal affairs" is a damn good description of what he will be doing. Or maybe "clumsily interfering" would be better.
