More warrantless seizures?

Is the DHS up to more shenanigans, or is this okay?


Here's what the US Constitution says:

4th Amendment:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

14th Amendment:
1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.  No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

I suppose border search and seizure is NOT unreasonable. However, all persons (even so-called illegal aliens) deserve equal protection.

This whole issue brings up another question: Why can DHS seize property at the border, when apparently no one has the authority to regulate human traffic across the same boundary? Are we now saying that anything and anyone now can cross borders without restriction except for sex workers and terrorists?

Who defines what is a terrorist is? "al-Qaeda and associated forces"? What does THAT mean?

Or are we saying that IDEAS on electronic devices are more dangerous than the people who carry those ideas? Who decides which ideas are dangerous and which are not?

Doesn't this all sound pretty arbitrary to you? It does to me. We now live at the whim of unaccountable dictators.
