The coercive utopians

Here's a good article about one of the worst aspects of post-modern America:

When the US Constitution went into effect, direct taxes were equal (and by the definition of the time, we were equal).

The 16th Amendment to the Constitution (the income tax amendment) was necessary so that direct taxes could be made unequal (and by the definition of the Founders, make us unequal).

Now we want to tax behaviors? What happened to "land of the free"?
