Why do these cowards always regret having told the truth? They shouldn't say things they don't believe, and having spoke they should "stick to their guns" [a slang phrase now reviled in America]:

I believe their cowardice stems from the fact that they love money more than they love the truth. And knowing that the wages of truth is death, they don't want to die.
This is the kind of person who will take the mark of the beast. In an effort to "save" their life, they will lose it.
