One Million Bottles Per Minute

Annual consumption of plastic bottles is set to top half a trillion by 2021, far outstripping recycling efforts and jeopardizing oceans, coastlines and other environments.

Our biggest threats are (in no particular order):

• Plastic and other chemicals in the environment
• The Fukushima nuclear catastrophe
• Strip mining the biosphere to feed ourselves
• Climate change

It's difficult to predict which will kill us off first, but I'm betting it won't be climate change.
