Once again, Turkey is killing Kurds:
Turkey has long insisted they view the Kurdish YPG and ISIS as basically the same thing. Overnight incidents around the city of Afrin, however, show that when the two forces are in close proximity, the Turkish military is definitely going after the Kurds.
The Kurdish YPG forces were launching an offensive near Afrin against the ISIS fighters when a flurry of Turkish airstrikes were launched against them, described as the single biggest attack Turkey has launched against Kurds since their invasion back in August. Turkish officials estimated 200 Kurds killed.
Turkey has long objected to US support for the Kurds in Syria, and particularly complained about the Kurds taking formerly ISIS-held areas. Afrin is its own sore spot for Turkey, since it is far west of the rest of Syrian Kurdistan, though it has been a Kurdish area since at least the 19th century.

In a former life, I attended a university in South Carolina which is famous for its Death Valley.
At the time there were oodles of foreign students matriculating, including many from Turkey. One of the graduate students I was friendly with expressed a hatred for Kurds on a par with US hatred for the 9/11 attackers. Since he was a relatively educated, presumably middle to upper class Turk, I guessed that his attitude was typical of his countrymen. Someone correct me if I am wrong in this.
Face it - only Russia and Syria are fighting ISIS. Everyone else there is either fighting Syria or evening up scores from the past several generations. This is not a civil war, it 's a slaughter. And I don't think Turkey is done killing Kurds. Far from it.
And I smell a big rat here (named Obama ad-Dajjal) who made a deal with Turkey - in exchange for supporting his undeclared war against Syria, he gave them permission to kill whomever they want. You can expect a President Hillary to do the same.
