Will US Become World's Nuclear Waste Dump ???

So THIS is what Obama ad-Dajjal has been up to the past week:

U.S.-bound plutonium that has recently been shipped out of Japan will be disposed of at a nuclear waste repository in New Mexico after being processed at the Savannah River Site facility in South Carolina, according to an official of the National Nuclear Security Administration.

“The plutonium will be diluted into a less sensitive form at the SRS and then transported to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) for permanent disposal deep underground,” said Ross Matzkin-Bridger, who is in charge of the operation at the NNSA, a nuclear wing of the Department of Energy.

“The dilution process involves mixing the plutonium with inert materials that reduce the concentration of plutonium and make it practically impossible to ever purify again,” he said in a recent phone interview.

The official made the remarks ahead of the latest Nuclear Security Summit, sponsored by President Barack Obama, which began Thursday in Washington.

THIS IS TOTAL BULLSHIT !!!

For those of you who are strangers to this subject, US high level waste was supposed to be stored in the Yucca Mountain repository, while WIPP was supposed to store only transuranic waste consisting of clothing, tools, rags, residues, debris, soil, and other items contaminated with radioactive elements, mostly plutonium. Neither facility was designed to store appreciable amounts of weapons grade plutonium in any form.

If you recall, WIPP experienced two "events" in February 2014. A drum of waste at the facility burst from an exothermic reaction inside the drum, and radioactive material was released to the environment. You can read about it here:

The recovery from these events is just wrapping up two years later, and now Obama ad-Dajjal wants to store weapons grade material there? He's NUTS !!!

There is no way either of these facilities should store other than trace amounts of uranium or plutonium until a safety analysis demonstrates it is safe to do so. Even then it would be an extremely bad idea.

Update - According to the Russians, the dilution and disposal method mentioned in the above report does NOT prevent the plutonium from being recovered in the future:

A high-level source in the US administration meanwhile told RIA news agency that neither the US nor Russia has started disposing of plutonium in accordance with the agreement. The source also said that the new approach to disposal is in full compliance with the US obligations under the agreement.

For Russia, however, the use of a cheaper processing method constitutes a breach of contract because it carries a potential for reversal, as explained by the Russian president.

“With the dilution and disposal method, the nuclear fuel retains its breakout potential, so it can be extracted, processed and weaponized again. That is not what we agreed on,” said Putin, who personally oversaw the signing of the original deal during his first term as Russian president.

Rosatom, the state-owned Russian nuclear holding, says the MOX deal with the US clearly says that the repossession of plutonium must be done in a reactor.

“The only way to irreversibly turn plutonium into a material not usable in a nuclear weapon is by changing its isotope composition. Any chemical method is reversible,” Rosatom spokesman Vladimir Troyanov told RT.

“Russian experts consider the American proposal not in line with the goal of the deal because under it the process must be irreversible. Moreover, the deal wording included ‘resulting from a reactor transformation.’”

Russia has gone to great lengths to uphold its end of the bargain, including by building an MOX fuel facility in the city of Zheleznogorsk in eastern Siberia. It has also invested in BN-600 and BN-800 fast neutron reactors, which will use MOX fuel made of weapons-grade plutonium and ensure it is unusable for nuclear weapons.
