This reminds me of something Jesus said:
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Scientists will tell you that earthquakes are a "natural phenomenon", but none of them have a clear picture of what really is happening inside this planet. We've never even penetrated the crust, let alone the mantle. You can find various theories about what's down there on this website:
