It's unquestionable the US wants to use nuclear weapons again. Doing so would be really dumb, especially since the Russians may decide to obliterate us in response.
DON'T DO IT.
In a former life I was part of a team whose purpose was to authenticate orders for the use of nuclear weapons. I would have done it then, but I'm certain I would not now. But it wouldn't really matter, since they'd just push me out of the way and get someone else to do it.
