How might this be happening?
I would guess through our banking / debt payment systems; i.e., passing around physical money and using ATM/POP touch screens. Since one or the other (or both) are ubiquitous, once the virus enters a community it will spread like wildfire.
And there's really not much we can do to stop this. Even if you stay at home, someone has to deliver your food, and can you trust them to be virus free? I don't think so. Very few facilities for production, storage, and delivery are sterile.
