How do you pay for consumption if you don't produce anything?
That is a question we should be asking about the US rentier economy, in which consumption accounts for 70% of GDP:

The Trump experiment did not work, and his replacement(s) are likely to drive us even further away from production and towards consumption. I doubt many of us would like to be like today's Greece, but that's the direction we're headed - broke and inundated with refugees.
Why did this happen? I suggest you read John Perkins' Confessions of an Economic Hit Man to gain some insight into what and who is behind all this. We are being intentionally destroyed, and most of us have no clue what's really going on.
