More strange things happening on the Left Coast:
The Santa Barbara City College Board of Trustees President says the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag is “steeped in expressions of nativism and white nationalism.”
In emails obtained exclusively by Campus Reform, the president of the SBCC Board of Trustees, Robert Miller, stated that he decided to “discontinue use of the Pledge of Allegiance” at board meetings because of its history.

I predicted something like this in my 2015 book No More Patriots:
WE MUST PUNISH THE HATE CRIME OF PATRIOTISM
On June 14
The Campaign for Global Peace and Harmony invites you to bring your children to Fort McHenry on Flag Day to hear the President of the United States encourage the participants in a purification ritual to embrace the new salvation.
Desired transformation: The flag which once meant salvation will now represent destruction.
Rationale: The most fundamental and pervasive form of extremism is patriotism, and its chief symbol is the national flag. By redefining patriotism as a hate crime and extinguishing the symbolic power of the flag, this phase of the campaign will have an effect similar to the denazification effort in Germany following World War Two.

But what was patriotism anyway? Most dictionaries defined it as some variation of love for or devotion to one’s country. Certainly there was nothing wrong with loving one’s country, but the manner in which this type of “love” often manifested itself had become a real conundrum. Its ultimate expression was to voluntarily join the military, learn the arts and sciences of war, journey to foreign lands, and gleefully kill or maim the people who lived there and destroy their homes chiefly because they loved their country as much as you loved yours.
In reality patriotism was a hate crime, pure and simple.
According to the US Department of Justice, hate crime was the violence of intolerance and bigotry, intended to hurt and intimidate someone because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religious, sexual orientation, or disability. The purveyors of hate used explosives, arson, weapons, vandalism, physical violence, and verbal threats of violence to instill fear in their victims. This was precisely what “patriotic” warriors did, and their victims were chosen chiefly because of their national origin. Other motivations were often given as excuses for patriotic behavior (e.g., national security or “they attacked us first”), but the underlying reason for this particular hate crime was simply that the victims lived in another country and didn’t look, think, or act like us.

It didn't take much effort in the past to persuade us that the US concepts of "freedom" and "patriotism" were worth fighting and dying for. And so far it hasn't taken much effort to persuade today's children that they're not.
We're witnessing today something similar to what happened during the Russian revolution in 1917, when a small band (the Bolsheviks) seized control of the newspapers and used them to vilify the Czarist regime. Today that seizure has been done on a vast scale by the corporate MSM, and they are doing everything in their power to vilify the Trump regime and those who want to "make America great again".
It won't be long until EVERYTHING the US once stood for is turned on its head and tossed to the curb. You ain't seen nothing yet.
