Google and the World Brain

Here is an essay about Google's attempts to create a "world brain":

Something NOT mentioned here is that at least one Google scientist apparently admitted that Google was creating the "world brain" so that it would be available for the artificial intelligence entity they also are creating.

If Google (or someone else) does create such a god or goddess, you will be forced to worship it or be put to death:

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Or perhaps it will kill you anyway, when it realizes how great a danger human life poses to the earth.

This is one of the possible futures on the other side of the "singularity" the geeks are working so feverishly to achieve. Most of them believe that wonderful things lie on the other side, but the thing about a "singularity" is that it's impossible to predict what does lie on the other side. Why then force everyone to cross over? What happened to the ideas of choice and self-determination?
