The absurdity of our immigration laws

Here is a story about a lawyer "living illegally" in the US for 20 years who went to law school and now wants to practice law:

What is wrong with enforcing our own laws? Why legislate them in the first place if we have no intention of enforcing them?

I think the whole situation is absurd. Either defend the border, or don't. And if you want to defend it, then defend it.


Something to think about: a nation-state (by definition) needs a border, but a market state does not.
