Clearly, if our children start using this stuff they don't think they have a good reason to live:

Dr. Lewis Nelson, a medical toxicologist at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, also said in 2011 that he doubted krokodil would reach the United States due to the availability of other cheap, powerful drugs such as black tar heroin and Oxycontin.
Well that's a comforting thought: black tar heroin is readily available in the US, and cheap too. I feel a LOT better about our children's future knowing that.
Let's see ... we can afford sending our troops to Afghanistan to protect the poppy crop, but we can't stop the heroin from coming into our country. Gee, I wonder why?
