The United States is NOT a democracy. It never was, and lately it has become a plutocracy.
One of the few true democracies on this planet is that of the Zapatistas in the Chiapas state of Mexico. They govern by these seven principles:
1 — Lead by Obeying / Obedecer y no Mandar
2 — To represent; not replace / Representar y no suplantar
3 — To work from below and not seek to rise / Bajar y no subir
4 — To serve; not self-serve / Servir y no servirse
5 — To convince; not conquer / Convencer y no vencer
6 — To construct; not destroy / Construir y no destruir
7 — To propose; not impose / Proponer y no imponer

Theirs is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Ours is a government of, by, and for oligarchs, bankgangsters, corporations, and their collaborators in the one percent.
By the way, the Zapatista way of life is about as close to true Christianity as one can get outside the Kingdom of God. The US way of life, on the other hand, is becoming more and more like what Satan wants humanity to be.
