Was the murder of MLK an act of state ???

Was the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr. orchestrated by the US government? Dr. William F. Pepper asserts that it was in his book An Act of State:

Martin Luther King Jr was, for the transnational corporations, public enemy number one. He stood in the way of their inexorable consolidation of power. If he had played along as have many of his peers before and after, he would likely be with us today, a wealthy and honored man, a pillar of the state. But he did not choose to play that game and as we have seen the might of the steward state was brought to bear upon him, and to this day the pillars of the American Republic continue to be supported by the same foundation stones of lies and greed which he was determined to crumble to dust and replace.

Here I sit listening to teenagers speak on the radio of the activism of Dr. King and how it inspired them to similar lives of activism. To all of them I say this:

If the United States government is not trying to kill you, then your acts of "activism" are inconsequential. The cross you wear on your neck has no value if you are in no danger of being nailed to it.

By the way, Obama ad-Dajjal is a sock puppet of the same kind of people who killed Dr. King. His "election" as President achieved nothing, other than the further domestication of the US electorate.
