The end of the petrodollar

This essay is several months old, but it is well worth reading. The outcome of the fiscal battle it describes will determine our future as a nation:

If the Dollar isn’t the single central currency of the system anymore and it’s strongly devalued, how will the country import oil which has become too expensive for it?

And how will we be able to import the stuff made in China that used to be manufactured here?

This whole situation is a recipe for disaster, and something tells me that DC doesn't have a clue.
