Is the NSA leaker a patriot or a traitor?

Daniel Ellsberg says that Edward Snowden's leaks are of the utmost significance:

Snowden says he acted out of patriotism. Uncle Sam (apparently) thinks he's a traitor.

US Constitution, Article III, Section 3:
1: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

Definition of patriotism:
Love of and devotion to one's country.

My assessment: Snowden is a patriot. He was giving aid to the people of the United States. Those who want to persecute him are the traitors.

What do you think?
