Why is the USA helping the rebels in Syria, but not helping the rebels in Mexico (i.e., the Zapatistas)?

• We have no national security interest in Syria.

• If the Zapatistas were running Mexico, we would not need immigration reform and the flood of drugs from Mexico would cease.
