Anyone who thinks that the DARPA-birthed Internet would not be a tool of the military is delusional.
That being said, the mess we have gotten ourselves into is horrible and may be irreversible. We are dependent on this stuff, and we get more so every day.
Question: Why hasn't Oracle been mentioned in the spying scandal? Java runs on as many or more machines than any other software. Is it immune to spying and abuse? Would anyone even know?
