The NSA leaker Edward Snowden "got away" because the US request for extradition did not meet legal requirements:

Way back when, the Taliban also refused to extradite Osama bin Laden because the US request did not meet legal requirements.
What legal requirements? The requests provided no evidence of the guilt of the accused. They merely stated "hand him over, or else".
No one believes or respects the US government any more, nor should they. They're a pack of lawless thugs. Thank God that China still has a moral compass.
