I just returned from shopping at WalMart. The person at the cash register had two visible tattoos. On one arm was the phrase (in Greek) "submit yourselves one to another" (from Ephesians 5:21). On the other arm was someone's name in Hebrew.
That got me to thinking about the topic of "submission".
Americans no longer want to submit to anyone or anything. No one can tell them what to do.
And yet the United States demands "unconditional surrender" from everyone. Nations must do what we say. Parents must turn their children over to the state, no questions asked or answered. Every knee must bow.
How can we justify this contradiction?
