How to tell a real terrorist attack from a fake one

One day after the Boston Marathon bombing, police and the FBI are still looking for the perpetrators(s) and are asking the public for help:

One day after 9/11, the government knew who all the perpetrators were, what their motives had been, all the details of their crimes, and didn't need anyone's help (not even trained forensic investigators who might have determined the real reasons why WTC1 and WTC2 disintegrated and why WTC7 collapsed). They then claimed no one in the government had an inkling that anything like that was in the works, in spite of credible testimony to the contrary.

Which one of the above sounds like a "real" attack to you, and which one sounds like a planned event?

Same with the JFK assassination: before it, no one knew anything about Oswald, but within 24 hours they could publish volumes about him.

Wake up, people. You're being played.

(4/21/2013 - I am currently rethinking what I'm willing to believe about the Boston Marathon bombing. See my subsequest posts.)
