What's the big deal with chemical weapons?

Many of you have seen a news story similar to this one:

http://news.yahoo.com/israeli-official-assad-used-chemical-arms-090821036.html

The most horrible claim is always that "he (Assad, Saddam Hussein, etc.) used chemical weapons on his own people". Well, there's something you should know about this.

During the "Battle of Seattle", the protests at the 1999 World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference in Seattle, the police mostly used chemical agents known as irritants (e.g., pepper spray) for crowd control.

However, on the day that President Bill Clinton visited the conference, the police (and I use that term loosely) used a nerve agent on the crowd. This was discovered by doctors at the free clinics treating the protesters, who reported symptoms of nerve agent poisoning similar to those mentioned in the above article.

So ... Bill Clinton used chemical weapons on his own people. This puts him in the same category as Assad and Saddam Hussein.

And now you know.

If Bill Clinton can do it against peaceful protesters, why can't Assad use chemical weapons against violent revolutionaries funded by the US who are trying to overthrow his government?

By the way, the Israelis who are tattling on Assad's crime reportedly have a large arsenal of chemical weapons themselves. Just what do they intend to use them for?
