Something similar is happening in my backyard, Greene County, Ohio. A company wants to build a solar farm, and local farmers don't want it built. My chief objection is that the power it generates may not benefit the local grid.
Be wary of surveyors coming on to your land without permission. A notable example of this was George Armstrong Custer leading an expedition into the Black Hills. We all know how that turned out. TPTB always have a way of turning "your" property into "their" profits, even if it requires acts of genocide to make it happen.
