Why US Left Afghanistan

As you may have heard, the US has pulled out of Afghanistan after two long decades of mayhem and torture.

Some, such as Pat Buchanan, are suggesting ours was a failed war:

But I think this other report may reveal what's really going on:

The US was overjoyed when the former Soviet Union got bogged down in Afghanistan. Didn't we initially support Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda for that very reason, to give the Soviets a Vietnam of their own?

Well, now that everything Russian is evil again, it makes perfect sense we'd toss this tar baby back into the Russians' lap ... and that may be exactly what we're doing.

The Taliban is resurgent, the opium fields will be producing bumper crops again, the heroin mills will be fired up to the max, and (of course) the Taliban and the jihadists can now turn their acrimony back against the Russian devils to the north.

Everyone's happy again, except maybe Vlad Putin and his boys, who apparently now will be doing the dying instead of our boys and girls.

See, "Joe Biden" isn't so dumb after all, especially since US drones can continue to bomb Afghan wedding parties whenever we want.

Update - 7/11/2021

Apparently both Russia and the Taliban are attempting to make peace with each other. You can read about it here:

Wouldn't it be great for all concerned if this worked out? I think it could as long as the US and Israel stay out of the conflict. What's the chance of that?
