Trump's Wall

Apparently the US federal shutdown will continue until someone blinks on the issue of the wall:

Here's my take:
  • No wall or bridge is going to save the US. We have far too many problems, and no one is addressing ANY of them in an intelligent fashion.
  • Let's try having no "federal" government for a few months and see how it goes. Keep the safety net agencies open (SS, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, etc.), and scrap the rest. I think we'll discover we can do just fine without paying millions of federal employees and "our" military to do little more than spy on us and wreck other countries while flushing our national wealth down the toilet.
