I have not been following the Trump-Kahnfrontation. Here's one discussion of it from a source I respect:

I expect each and every misstep of the Trump campaign to be ruthlessly attacked by everyone who doesn't want him to be President.
And "fairness" will not be one of the criteria motivating those attacks.
