Questions About Charlie Hebdo Attack

It has been alleged that the recent "Charlie Hebdo" attack in Paris was motivated by religion or jihad (holy war):

Following the American Revolution, the Continental Congress adopted the "Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union" (AOC) as the first constitution of the United States.

Article III of the AOC stated the following:

The said States hereby severally enter into a firm league of friendship with each other, for their common defense, the security of their liberties, and their mutual and general welfare, binding themselves to assist each other, against all force offered to, or attacks made upon them, or any of them, on account of religion, sovereignty, trade, or any other pretense whatever. [emphasis added]

Would the said States have considered offensive cartoons and essays about Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and Christianity to have been religious attacks on them?

What would they have done in response to such attacks?

If their actions in response to such attacks had been violent, would they have constituted "terrorism" or would they have been a justifiable defense of their religious beliefs?

The answers to these questions have some interesting implications for all of us, especially Christians.

When Jesus Christ returns to us as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Bible says He will do the following to punish the world:

  • He will spread pestilence
  • He will cause strife and bloodshed
  • He will kill the wicked
  • He will spread famine

And when He does these things, the whole world will fight against Him ... believing that His actions are unjust and undeserved.

Are you now beginning to understand what the "war on terror" (a.k.a. the war against religion) is all about?

Remember, no human motivation justifies violence. Only G-d can punish:

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Romans 12:19 KJV

Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
