Malthus Was Right - We're Going To Starve

The Reverend Thomas Robert Malthus predicted in "An Essay on the Principle of Population" that sooner or later population will be checked by famine and disease, leading to what is known as a Malthusian catastrophe. We seem to be headed in the very direction he predicted:

The world has entered an era of “peak food” production with an array of staples from corn and rice to wheat and chicken slowing in growth – with potentially disastrous consequences for feeding the planet.

New research finds that the supply of 21 staples, such as eggs, meat, vegetables and soybeans is already beginning to run out of momentum, while the global population continues to soar.

Are our best days behind us? They are if we don't get the human population increase under control.
