Have you heard of "Operation Merlin", a CIA attempt to give Iran phony bomb part plans?

Has our government done things like this before?
(1) An FBI informant helped terrorists assemble a truck bomb in 1993. What was the result? The first WTC bombing, which killed six people, injured more than a thousand, and caused millions of dollars worth of damage.
(2) An FBI operative gave Kine-Stick detonators to Timothy McVeigh and his accomplices. What was the result? The Murrah Building bombing, which killed 168 people, injured more than 680 others, and destroyed or damaged 324 buildings.
(3) The ATF sent thousands of assault rifles and other weapons to Mexico, many of which would up in the hands of drug cartels. What was the result? At least 150 injuries or deaths, and the facilitation of drug trafficking across the US border.
(4) Apparently the White House and the State Department conducted a gun running operation to provide weapons to Libyan terrorists in the hope they would overthrow Muammar Gaddafi. What was the result? Gaddafi was murdered, our embassy was burned, our ambassador and his guards were killed, and the sovereign nation of Libya was looted and destroyed, with massive loss of life. And Hillary Rodham (a.k.a. Clinton to some of you) joked about it in public (we came, we saw, he died ... ha, ha, ha).
What's my point? The US government often conducts clandestine operations which appear to be benign to US interests and damaging only to our enemies. But often, as the above examples demonstrate, the operations "go sour" and heavy damage to US property and loss of US lives occur.
What if Project Merlin (or something like it) actually gives Iran the information and/or equipment they need to make a bomb, either intentionally or "accidentally"? Then what? How many will die when that happens?
I don't trust any of these bastards. Sooner or later, they're going to get us all killed.
And I don't think they will really care when they do.
