Mining Tar Sands In Trinidad And Tobago ???

Here's something I didn't see coming - mining tar sands in the Caribbean:

WTF ???

Why are we mining and extracting oil from tar sands (one of the dirtiest processes on the planet) and at the same time WHINING about all the CO2 in the atmosphere and oceans? Does this make any sense?

If we're ever going to solve the climate change "problem", tar sands MUST be left in the ground.
