World Bank's War On The Poor

Here is a great essay in Dissident Voice about the role played by the World Bank in the massacre of one million people in Indonesia following the 1965 military coup:

The World Bank loans to Indonesia were part of a "structural adjustment program" which brought the country into the western fold and opened it up for neoliberal mass looting of its resources.

Now the City of Detroit is undergoing its own "structural adjustment":

The killing hasn't started yet in Detroit, but the suffering has been going on for quite some time. When the true magnitude of America's debt must be dealt with, there will be hell to pay. And that's when we may discover why Homeland Security has been buying all those hollow point bullets. The chief attribute of the ruling class is that they rule ... by any means necessary.
