Extractive Wealth

Throughout the "developed world", the extractive model reigns supreme. But in the "undeveloped" or "developing" countries, people are fighting to stop it:

Why? Because they are still have ties to the land, while we have been cut off from it. They have to try to live with the poisoned food and water and toxic tailings piles, while we still have relatively low exposures to those hazards.

Except for the American Indians, of course ... and people who are now having their lives and futures destroyed by the fracking industry.

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
